The Snowman Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

The Freezer

The freezer is a symbol of life. When the Snowman sees the freezer, he sees life. Snowmen cannot survive in the sun. However, the narrator does not understand, and he leaves him outside until the next day. When he wakes up, he finds that Snowman has melted and he has no life anymore. The narrator regrets ignoring precautionary measures and putting him in the freezer.

Snowman

The Snowman is a symbol of love. When the Snowman interacts with the narrator, he shows him love and appreciation. For instance, Snowman washes dishes after they finish eating in the kitchen. Later, Snowman shows his love when he appreciates it by holding the narrator's hand and flying with him across the skies and the sea.

The power of imagination

The power of imagination is symbolized by the narrator's ability to roll a snowball into a statue, looking like a human being. The snowball later transforms into a human called Snowman. The reader realizes that even after Snowman melts, the narrator appreciates his imagination and their great time together.
