Students will be able to identify and analyze important quotes.

Structure:

To begin this activity, lead students through a short discussion. Ask them how they know a quote in a book is important. Students will likely say that it is a statement that clearly connects to themes or motifs. Other students may describe a feeling they have when they encounter an important quote—they may not be able to articulate how or why they know it is important.
