Igor Malev

Igor is an ultra-rich Russian businessman who previously fought in Afghanistan. He has a rags-to-riches story which keeps him humble and disillusioned from the world of greed and glamour. However, his time in war has created a subconscious trauma which sometimes manifests as homicidal feelings, particularly when he believes that he is doing a favor to another person, which Ewa describes as Lucifer effect. He is highly religious and thus, is self-righteous in the tasks he does even when he knows how wrong they are. In spite of being a businessman, his body and mind are that of a highly-trained assassin, which is why he is able to throw even the best of Scotland Yard away from his scent.

Ewa

She is Igor’s wife. She is a mysterious woman, and keeps her thoughts to herself. She served as Igor’s conscience when she was married to him but after she saw his capability to murder a man just because he could, scared her out of the marriage. She is insecure but doesn’t like to reveal that. She is an efficient liar and doesn’t like to show her emotions. She is independent and started her own line of clothes when she realized her loneliness in spite of Igor’s presence during the course of which she met Hamid. She is not in love with him, but is afraid of being lonely which is why she marries him.

Superclass

The is a particular section of society members who are so rich that they don’t even do their own business, but have people who cater to even that need. They live in expensive mansions and attend parties where presence is required to add glamour to the event. They are described entirely devoid of emotion or thought or ambition. They are arrogant, haughty and extremely made-up. They are the best kind of advertisement since they are provided with everything the top companies are releasing, well before time so that they can be photographed due to their huge fan-following and display the items the middle-class can only see and obsess over.

Olivia Martins

Olivia sold hand-made jewelry at Cannes to foreigners. She is beautiful but naïve. She is the first victim of Igor. She tries to manipulate Igor by describing her pitiful boyfriend and her relationship with him. Igor eventually justifies killing her to save her from that boyfriend.

Gabriela Sherry

Gabriela is struggling actress from Chicago who arrived at Cannes to try and meet someone from Hollywood. She is of twenty-five years of age which is considered old in Hollywood and nails the audition because of her nothing-to-lose attitude. She has a ‘revenge’ streak in her due to a humiliating incident that happened when she was very young and her ambition results out of that.

Javits Wild

Javits is a very influential film-distributor from Los Angeles. He is sought after by many film studios due to the success he is said to garner in comparison to other distributors. However, much of the success is a part of his money-laundering scheme for which he uses films as a front. He is under surveillance at Cannes when he is attacked by Igor.

Maureen

Maureen is an ambitious but slightly dodgy film-maker who came in pursuit of Javits to get her film released. Though, Maureen starts with good ambitions but soon learns the grittiness of the film-making business. She makes compromises wherever required and is willing to risk for the sake of her art.

Inspector Savoy

Savoy is an inspector at Cannes with a desire to be part of investigation of a huge scandal. He is sick of filing paperwork for every crime which is already not very prevalent in Cannes. He is happy when he discovers that a serial killer might be on loose, since he’ll get a chance at cracking something interesting for a change.

Hamid Hussein

Hamid is a famous haute-couture designer from Middle East. He came from a very poor family, but due to the financial backing from Sheikh he is able to rise in the world of haute-couture. He came from simple means but is corrupted by the glamour and glitz of Cannes.

Jasmine Tiger

Originally Cristina, she is a supermodel from Antwerp, Belgium. Her parents were immigrants from Rwanda. She wants to become a veterinarian, but after witnessing a murder for which she had to falsely testify, she gets depressed and longs to run from her life in Belgium. Modeling comes naturally to her and becomes her way of escape from her dull life. She is in love with her agent/designer and is mostly not corrupted by the high-glam society around her.

Gibson

Gibson is a famous director who is commissioned by Hamid to direct a film. He understands the art as well as business of film-making and tries to explain the layered life of a film star.

The Star

He is a very popular actor who has not given a hit film from a very long time. He is conflicted about the film industry. He wants to get away from the glamour but can’t yet live without the lifestyle he has grown used to.

Androgyne

Unnamed, his sex is often confused. He is thought to be homosexual and a bad dresser but he is not. He dresses the way he wants even if it’s not up to society standards. He tried to be an actor a long time back but let go of any expectations when he failed. He has an impeccable taste which is why he is frequently hired as a fashion assistant.

Stanley Morris

Morris is a ground-breaking veteran from Scotland Yard; he has quite a reputation as he solved five murders in a single day when no one else could. He likes to evolve with technology and is very disappointed when the French police department isn’t at par with new technology as he is.
