"The Wonderful Adventures of Nils" is a book known for changing the lives of school children of Sweden. It is a very famous book through which writer Selma Lagerlof makes children aware of the geography and culture of the country. It helps children become a better humans and having compassion for other living beings.

The protagonist is Nils Holgersson's, who rides a flock of goose and see different perspectives of his own country. He is a stubborn and disobedient child. He is cruel to his farm animals and teases to other children as well. It makes him notorious. The boy's life takes a turn when he was home alone and turns into an Imp. He then reaches inside a fantasy world, where he has to complete terms to return to human life again.

During the journey, Nils meets different animals and see different cities of the country. He becomes a hero for living creatures while showing compassion towards them. He feels guilt and sadness for not saving a city in exchange for a coin. Two children Osa and Mats, teach him patients and goodwill. The story ends with turning Nils into a boy of kind heart and soul, who has compassion for others. He fulfills the terms of the magician and returns home. Everybody welcomes him with love. Through the story, the writer aims to have a psychological impact on the values of school children.
