Backpack

Cheryl is ready to hit the Trail and begin her journey of 1,000 miles, and readies her backpack. Ironically, she has so many things that her pack is bigger and far heavier than she is. It takes her several minutes just to stand up with it on.

Beginning

Cheryl has just begun her hike on the Pacific Crest Trail--the journey she knows she must take to find herself again. Ironically, just as she begins she is already questioning if she should turn back as she's ready to quit. It's too hard, too much.

Licorice Frank

Cheryl is offered a hot meal and a place to stay for the night by Frank and is told to wait in his truck until he finished his work. Cheryl believes he is going to sexually assault her, but ironically he is a good man with a wife and sincerely wants to help her.

Preparation and Training

Cheryl meets Greg on the Trail and he talks about all of the preparation and training that is done just to be able to hike the Trail. Cheryl agrees with him. Ironically, she hasn't trained one day to prepare for this. She's here doing it without even having a plan.

News

Cheryl receives the news that her mother is dying and goes to the hospital bathroom to cry. Ironically, Bobby, her mother comes to comfort her while she is the one who is dying.
