Persona - Facing It

The persona in “Facing It” is having reflections about the Vietnam War. The persona promise that he will not cry because of the sad memories but he cannot fight the tears because he is human. The persona is disappointed due to his inability to control his tears. The persona cries because of his experiences at the Vietnam War.

Persona - Prisoners

The persona observes the arrival and the mistreatment of the prisoners. The persona is empathetic because of the suffering that the prisoners that are subjected to. The person concludes that it is not fair for the prisoners to be dehumanized in such a manner.

The Prisoners - Prisoners

Arguably, the prisoners described in the poem are captured in the course of the war by their enemies. The prisoners are humiliated. They arrive at their prison by way of helicopters. After the arrival, they are interrogated by their captors so that they can divulge the information they could be privy to. The prisoners are thin; this means that they are denied food and water.
