The story of Allan's homosexuality and suicide is told only through reminiscence in Blanche's monologue--not directly. Allan never appears on stage. For homework, ask students to write the scene of the flashback that could have occurred in place of Blanche's monologue, directly showing her confrontation with Allan at the dance. The scene should be no longer than a couple of minutes.
