Chinese Cinderella is an abridged version of Adeline Yen Mah's full-length autobiography, Falling Leaves. It was shortened to make it more appropriate and appealing to a younger audience, and it subsequently went on to win many awards which Falling Leaves had not, though it garnered much international acclaim and was a New York Times best-seller, selling over a million copies worldwide.
