Symbolic Poems
Kind of Activity:
Creative Writing
Objective:
Students will demonstrate their comprehension of the symbolism in the novel and creatively weave that symbolism into their own writing.
Structure:
To begin this activity, break students into five groups and assign each one a symbol from the novel to analyze: dogs, fire, sheep, Lord Byron, and the farm. In their groups, they will need to come up with a detailed description of what _____ symbolizes and how they came to that conclusion. For this, they will need to include direct evidence from the text.
