Do you think David has evolved as a character since the beginning of the novel? What about this passage and other evidence from the text supports your position?

Perhaps David has nominally grown as a person. At the farm, he seemed like he’d become at least somewhat less selfish (caring for Lucy, looking out for farm, caring for the animals). However, back in Cape Town, he’s back to his old ways. He still...
