Don Quixote: In the Headlines

Objective:
Students will consider the events of the novel through a journalistic lens and practice creative writing.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.5 (Grades 11-12)
Structure:
Students should break up into smaller groups (no more than 6) and construct a news article extolling the activities of Don Quixote from his perspective. Using the accounts in the novel, they should produce a "glass half-full" narrative that speaks of his attempts to perform chivalrous duties, and positing that the injuries he suffers are costly but inevitable in the service of chivalry.
