Study Objectives

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

    Students will be able to understand the novel's historical context and its influence on the text.

    Students will be able to consider whether there is more than one way to see an event, based on perspective (glass half-empty/half-full, for example) and how perspective shapes how we react to events.

  3. 3

    Students will be able to analyze Cervantes's writing style as well as symbols and themes used throughout the novel.

  4. 4

    Students will be able to apply their analysis of Cervantes's writing to improve their own descriptive writing.
