Role Play
Objective:
Students will practice reading aloud to aid in their critical interpretation of the play.
Structure:
One of the most difficult parts of teaching plays in the classroom is capturing the style and delivery of the play's lines. One of the best ways to help students who are struggling with this is to have students read passages aloud and discuss with the class what the passages mean.
Ask students which section they had particular trouble with, then assign the characters to different students and have them read the passages aloud. If your students are unsure, pick some key scenes.
