Objective:

Students will be able to map their own lives as Alison maps her father's

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.5

Structure:

Display the circle in which Alison maps her father's life on a projector; you may also choose to play "Maps," the song from the musical adaptation. Ask students what impression this map gives them of Bruce Bechdel. Do they think it represents the character they have come to know in the text? Why or why not?

Students should then create maps of their own lives so far. Have they always lived in the same place? Where within that town or city have the most important events in their lives...
