There are various spellings and anglicizations of the Ojibway or Anishinabeg people of southern Canada and the northern Midwest United States. This Lesson Plan follows the spellings as put forth by Wagamese in Indian Horse.

Indian Horse recounts scenes of institutional abuse (mental, physical, and sexual), mental health issues (including suicide, depression, and alcoholism), and racism. This material may be triggering to some students and the teacher should warn the class ahead of time about each of these occurrences.
