When Jane first meets Mr. Rochester, before she knows who she is, she is exhilarated because this meeting is a bit of excitement in her life. When he first gets to Thornfield Hall and Jane gets to know him, she at first is finding her feet in his presence, but grows comfortable after she gets to know him.
