Objective:

Students will research the clothing worn by people in 19th-century France.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RH.11-12.2

Structure:

For this activity, students will research the fashion trends contemporary to Les Miserables (roughly 1815-1850).

Divide students into groups of about four or five each. Groups will be given time to research these fashion trends however they see fit. What is important is that each group provides a list of sources before the second part of this activity, during which they will write a summary of how fashion evolved over the decades.
