    12 Years a Slave Film Screening, Pt. I

    Objective:

    To compare the crucial elements of different slave narratives and how they are adapted for other media.

    Common Core Standards:

    Structure:

    The next three days of the Lesson Plan will involve showing the award-winning 2013 film adaptation of 12 Years a Slave in order to (1) give students access to another slave narrative from roughly the same era as Douglass and (2) allow students to compare and contrast the experiences of reading and watching a slave narrative.
