Police protecting criminals
The corruption in the police department in Uttar Pradesh is a common theme in the film. The police protect the goons and even accompanies them as an escort in their activities. The police, while they are sworn to protect civilians from goons, give them free reign to do as they want. Even keeping Tiwari Bhaisaab in jail is nothing more than a political stunt, he has all amenities there and still controls his empire.
Indu murdering Langda
This is one of the few instances when Vishal Bhardwaj, the director, takes liberties from the play. In the original play, Iago murders Emilia but in Omkara, Langda is killed by Indu. Indu is often slighted by Langda and even alleged to have an adulterous affair so he could not get blamed by Omkara. However, Indu the so-though-of weak link, with little political prowess kills Langda.
Langda overpowering everyone
Langda is often subject of mockery due to his disability and is treated like a servant by Omkara and is often slighted. However, he emerges as the most politically manipulator when he successfully manages to convince Omkara of an affair between Dolly and Keshu, which leads Omkara to kill Dolly and he gets to kill Keshu which clears his way for becoming the next Bahubali.
Omkara smothering Dolly
Omkara who has never had feelings for any woman, falls in love with Dolly when he learns of her love for him. He abducts her from her marriage altar, and promises to be kind and affectionate to her. However, he smothers her in end when Langda convinces him of her affair with Keshu.
Snake in Eagle’s claws
When an eagle drops a dead snake in Dolly’s pot of turmeric on her wedding day, she is scared that it’s a symbol of death. However, Indu convinces her that there is no such thing as omen, and that Omkara loves her unconditionally. However, she is murdered by Omkara when he comes to believe that she may be having an affair with Keshu.
