Rip Van Winkle and Other Stories Lesson Plan

The content in this guide can be used to teach the short stories in The Sketchbook of Geoffrey Crayon—including "Rip Van Winkle," which makes up the 2nd day of this guide. These stories can be read individually, and you may decide to jump around from one to the other. However, the teaching materials herein will work best if the stories are read together and as they appear in the sketchbook, as themes and other literary elements are referenced and discussed as they accumulate and relate over the course of the sketchbook.
