Prime factorization means writing the composite number as a product of prime numbers Example $42=6\times 7\quad$ ... 7 is prime, but 6 is not, so we write $42=2\times 3\times 7\quad$ ... and we have prime factorization. Example $1300=13\times 100$ $=13\times 2\times 50$ $=13\times 2\times 2\times 25$ $=13\times 2\times 2\times 5\times 5$ (all prime numbers in the product)
