    Objective:

    To trace the development of a character over the course of a novel

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.R.3, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.SL.5, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.SL.6

    Structure:

    The Count of Monte Cristo introduces students to a wealth of larger-than-life characters. Have students choose a character other than Edmond Dantes and create a Facebook profile for him or her. Students should update this profile throughout the rest of the unit, sharing major events that the characters experience and their reactions to the news of their friends and acquaintances.
