Paul realizes that he has been writing all night but decides to continue, hoping to rid himself of John Coffey's "ghost." He even decides to skip his walk for the day, which draws the attention of Dolan. When Dolan finds Paul writing, he demands to see the pages and even puts his hands on Paul. This draws the attention of Elaine, who once again threatens to report him to her powerful grandson. Sheepishly, Dolan slinks away.
