What are your first impressions of Horace Giddens?
It may be conspicuous to some people that Horace wanted to talk to both Alexandra and Addie alone before he spoke to his wife or his brothers-in-law. Horace is clearly very ill, but he is also as Ben said, clearly very shrewd. He understands his family and who is likely to be manipulating him. He also trusts Addie; this is the first true respect we have seen any White person show a Black person in this script. It seems likely that Horace knows what's going on, and that he might be thinking of ways to handle it.
