    How does the writing style around Juliana's killing of Joe change? What effect does this have on the narrative?

    Though Dick's writing is subjective to the character throughout, we really get a sense of Juliana's disorientation through the writing style around her killing of Joe. It becomes very much stream-of-consciousness, expressing her emotions rather than what is really happening. She says something about swallowing a blade, and it cutting her up from inside (which we can see is not true by what happens after), and even Joe's death is simply described as "Whisk."
