    How does the author represent opening night differently in each of the three chapters that take place on that night? What narrative effect(s) does this achieve?

    In “Opening Night I: Inception,” we’re given a broad sense of how opening night went from a general perspective—a perspective which knows nothing of any magic occurring while the bonfire is lit. We get atmosphere from this chapter, a picture of opening night as a beautiful success with a miraculous bonfire lighting and thrilled patrons. We learn of Widget and Poppet’s birth, seemingly the only unexpected thing to occur.
