The Night Circus is the debut novel of writer and multimedia artist Erin Morgenstern. The novel got its start during National Novel Writing Month in 2005 and was published in 2011. It’s categorized as fantasy and speculative fiction.
Though The Night Circus is Morgenstern’s first published work, it was well received by both critics and the general public, landing on The New York Times Best Seller List for seven weeks. The novel also won an Alex Award in 2012 and was a candidate for the Guardian First Book Award in 2011. More than 30 countries bought the foreign-language rights before the book was even released.
