Erin Morgenstern is best known as the author of The Night Circus (2011).
Morgenstern grew up in Massachusetts and attended Smith College, where she studied theater and studio art. She has mentioned writing small things as a child, but she says she didn't really put pen to paper until her 20s.
The Night Circus first came to fruition during the 2005 National Novel Writing Month, though she worked on it for years, publishing the novel in 2011. The novel is her first published work and was well received, winning the Alex Award from the American Library Association. It also spent seven weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list.
