Rey
Without a last name until the end of the film, Rey is a former scavenger who joins the Resistance to work to fight Kylo Ren and the evil First Order. She is a fierce, intelligent, and loyal soldier who just happens to possess a tremendous amount of power with the little-used Force. The question ultimately becomes: will she use it for good (the Rebellion) or bad (the First Order)?
Leia Organa
Interestingly, Carrie Fisher didn't film any scenes for The Rise of Skywalker as she died before the film had started production. Regardless, Leia Organa is an esteemed Princess - now leader of the Rebel Alliance - who is incredibly smart, resourceful, and perhaps most importantly, kind.
Kylo Ren
Now the Supreme Leader of the First Order, Kylo Ren is the evil and sadistic Sith Lord who is intent on conquering the galaxy. The son of Leia and Han Solo, Kylo is the main antagonist of the film and is often shown as a petulant child.
