Objective:

Students will act out a key scene from the novel.

Structure:

Arrange students into small groups. Each group will pick a scene from the novel and prepare a brief staged production of that scene. Groups are encouraged to use dialogue from the book, but they are free to write their own lines, as well, as long as those lines are not wildly uncharacteristic. Students should have a script prepared, which they will turn in at the end of the assignment period. Give interested groups the opportunity to perform their scenes at the end of class, as well.
