Destruction
This documentary features scenes of extreme panic after bombs have exploded and destroyed cities. The city is reduced to rubble and dust, showing the destructive effects that warfare has on people's lives. We see people's homes destroyed, with huge holes in the walls. After one attack, "all the buildings had been leveled to the ground."
Bombs
In a few frightening scenes, bomb attacks are filmed. We see the quick response of The White Helmets, who try to find and rescue any injured civilians. They are "the first to arrive when there is a bombing," making them incredibly important in saving civilians who have been hit. The sounds of planes and bombs are never far away in the documentary, with Mohammed saying "we see so many cluster bombs."
Heroism
In this documentary, we see the bravery of the volunteers. Abu Omar says that "if you don't have some courage, you wouldn't continue doing what we do." Khalid tells us how he has lost two colleagues who were killed taking part in a civilian rescue, and Abu also tells us that many volunteers have been killed, including 30 in Aleppo city. The job is incredibly high risk, which we see in the imagery of the documentary, including in a number of rescue missions.
Death and violence
The large amount of bomb attacks ultimately kills many people. Khalid says that "the hardest thing is seeing dead bodies. This affects me a lot. But this is my duty and my job. I have to do it for the civilians and the people." As such, this documentary considers the traumatic impact that seeing dead bodies might have on the volunteers. On camera, we see The White Helmets finding the bodies of people who have been killed in bomb attacks, with one volunteer saying that: "the casualties are rising daily. The bloodbath is not stopping."
