Offices on either side held neat desks, dramatic artwork, and women speaking a dozen languages, each pausing to bow her head as the trio passed." The company's description shows authority. The women who enter this office are powerful influencers in society, and the company's role is to put them where they belong in society.
The appearance of the Maiden
The Maiden's dress code and physical appearance depict power and influence. The narrator described her appearance when she came out of her car to depict the sense of sight. The narrator says, "I was wearing tight braids, designer boots, disguised as army issue, cargo pants, and full-sleeve tattoos – the Maiden flashed a quick smile, revealing a diamond embedded in her left canine." The imagery shows that the women who enter the VenCo Company are independent with powerful positions in all sectors of the economy.
The imagery of magical activity
The magical activity in the coven engagement oracle depicts one of the important events in VecCo. Maidens transform into witches when they sit before their boss. The narrator says, "The Maiden put her elbows on the table, the snakes inked on her forearms slithering in the candlelight." The appearance of the snakes in the private room where the meeting is about to take place signifies the start of the magical activity.
