Kamila Shamsie was born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1973 and currently lives in the UK. In addition to being an award-winning novelist, she writes for several publications, including The Guardian, New Statesman, Index on Censorship, and Prospect. She is also a creative writing professor at the Manchester Centre for New Writing.
Shamsie completed her high school education in Karachi. She moved to the US for college and earned her BA from Hamilton College. She then earned an MFA in writing from the University of Massachusetts–Amherst.
