Why is President Snow angry that Katniss won the Hunger Games?
Students should discuss the bind in which Katniss finds herself. By winning the Games — ostensibly doing what she was told — she was obeying the Capitol and extending their power, which is the point of the Hunger Games. But by winning them with Peeta and showing defiance, she was subverting the reason for the Games — and, in Snow's view, inciting the Districts to rebel. By threatening her if the rebellion occurs, Snow seeks not only to torture Katniss psychologically with guilt. He seeks to neutralize one of the mot powerful weapons of the rebellion.
