Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games series, an extremely popular and successful series of young adult (YA) books depicting a dystopian future in which a totalitarian government rules North America. The ruling class distracts the populace with violent reality television in order to quash potential rebellion. The books are narrated by Katniss Everdeen, the series heroine who subverts both Capitol expectations and the traditional YA heroine tropes as she survives two separate Hunger Games and finally leads a rebellion against the government.
