La Jetée Imagery

La Jetée Imagery

Underground

In the present day, we see that the people are living underground in tunnels filled with piping and lights. The imagery represents the reality that the way the world has been has changed. No more are the days of sunshine and fresh air upon the earth. Instead they live burrowed under it in order to hide from the dangers that lie in wait on the surface. It represents a feeling of having no way out.

Wild

We see Davos in a close up shot with wild eyes after seeing many men attempt to time travel with their eyes fully covered. The imagery reveals that Davos understands the dangers of traveling in time as many have gone mad and even died trying to do so and no it is his turn. His expression reveals the fear and uncertainty of what will become of his life.

Together

We see Davos and the Woman walking together through a row of trees that create a long path ahead of them. The imagery creates the feeling that there is a long journey and/or opportunity for a life ahead for the two of them. But the narrowing of those rows of trees by the perspective of the image represents that this relationship will come to an end.

The Jetty

The opening image of the film is of The Jetty at the airport. This is the defining moment of Davos' life and the defining image of the film. The imagery reveals the youth of his life and the traumatic event that occurred that day and the fact that it is in a still photograph that has been filmed for this featurette reveals that just like the photo Davos is locked in a moment in time.
