La Jetée Quotes

Quotes

"This is a story of a man marked by an image from his childhood."

Narrator

The Narrator tells us of the primary event which this film is about. An image that was seen by Davos of a murder taking place at the Jetty of the airport. It becomes the beginning and the end of the film's story.

"The violent scene that upset him and whose meaning he was to grasp only years later."

Narrator

The Narrator describes the scene Davos witnessed. This would become his own death as after he travels back in time he is murdered as the older version of himself in front of the younger version of him as a young boy before World War III.

"The outcome was a disappointment for some, death for others, and others yet, madness."

Narrator

The Narrator here is describing the process of time travel that is attempted by many people in order to find a way to save the present-day people. They are sent to the past and the future in order to find help, but most who attempted the travel were unable to withstand the psychological and physical demands of what was being asked of them and most ended up dead or driven mad.
