November 9 Summary

November 9 Summary

November 9 is a romantic novel (2015) by Colleen Hoover. The story revolves around Fallon O'Neill and Ben Kessler and a date that's tied to them by two unfortunate events that happened in their lives. On November 9, Fallon meets her father at lunch and tells him about her plan to move to New York. She wants to pursue an acting career, but her father tells her to change her mind. He thinks Fallon's burn scars make her unfit for acting and recommends she find another career. Ben, who also hears their conversation, interrupts her father's conversation during lunch and introduces himself as Fallon's boyfriend. Ben reasons with her father and tells him to support her daughter's dream, but Donovan leaves angrily.

Afterward, Ben and Fallon spend their spending time together and feel a strong attraction to one another. They decide to meet next year on November 9 and also give each other tasks to complete. Ben tells Fallon to do auditions to boost her confidence and date other guys to figure out her feelings. Fallon tells him to write a novel, and he agrees on that. Initially, everything seems fine, but Ben's brother dies in a car accident, and things get complicated between Ben and Fallon. Fallon refuses to stay with him because she doesn't want Kyle's widow to live with him. Ben, who can't leave his brother's pregnant widow alone, helplessly watches Fallon leave him. Ben comes to the cafe as promised, but he brings Jordyn and his ten-month-old nephew, Oliver. Ben tells Fallon indirectly that he likes Jordyn, and they're a couple now. Fallon tells him the experiment is over and leaves.

Fallon starts dating Theodore to forget Ben. Fallon again meets Ben at the club, and he tries to clear her misunderstanding regarding him and Jordyn. After seeing him begging, Fallon agrees to hear him, and they reconcile eventually. In the end, Fallon reads the manuscript of Ben's novel, in which he confesses his wrongful act, which started a fire in Fallon's house and scarred her for life.
