Ernest Cline is an American author, slam poet, and screenwriter. He is an avid fan of everything pop culture, and he is obsessed with the 1980s. Cline began his writing career as a poet while working in information technology, self-publishing a chapbook of his spoken-word poetry in 2001. In 2010, he sold the rights to his first novel, Ready Player One, to Crown Publishing Group. Cline's second novel, Armada, was published in 2015 to critical acclaim.
