Ready Player One Lesson Plan

Relationship to Other Books

Consider some of Ernest Cline's other works, such as Armada and The Importance of Being Ernest. In addition, Ready Player One shares a lot of thematic and stylistic similarities with Orson Scott Card's iconic science-fiction novel, Ender's Game. Students may also enjoy foundational near-future science-fiction texts like Andy Weir's The Martian and Artemis, or Phillip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and A Scanner Darkly. Finally, for a more comedic spin on the classic science-fiction tropes, students could read Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
