Since the denominator must not be zero: $x+1\ne0$ $x\ne-1$ So the domain is all real numbers except -1 The range of the rational function $h(x)=\frac{1}{x}$ is all real numbers except 0 So the range of $h(x)=\frac{2}{x+1}$ is also all real numbers except 0
