The Autobiography of Malcolm X Lesson Plan

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

   Students will learn about the life of Malcolm X and his significance to contemporary African American history.

   Students will gain an understanding of prevailing Black liberation thought and theories, including Black nationalism and Pan Africanism.

   Students will gain an understanding of how autobiographies are constructed and evaluate how they can be used to reflect entire social movements and larger political themes.
