Why does all of Greece hate Helen? What does H.D. think about this?
Helen is traditionally considered the cause of the Trojan War--because she is the most beautiful woman in the world, she is kidnapped, and a long war begins to try to get her back. H.D. implies that blaming her for this is objectifying and wrong--in the poem, she dehumanizes Helen by describing "the face," "the eyes," and "the hand" --using definite articles (instead of "her" face, eyes, etc.) to imply that this woman's body belongs to all of Greece.
