Hilda Doolitlle, better known as H.D., was a 20th century American poet. She was associated with the Imagist movement, a subset of literary modernism. H.D.'s work draws heavily from mythology and her background in Ancient Greek to comment on themes concerning gender, war, writing, and interpersonal relationships. The poems covered in this unit span her decades-long career, and range from very short, image-driven pieces to multi-page epics.
