Study Objectives

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

    Students will practice closely reading poems for both literal and figurative meanings.

  2. 2

    Students will be able to think and write analytically about literature, using examples from the text and appropriate literary terminology to support arguments about the way a text functions.

  3. 3

    Students will become familiar with H.D.'s life and work.

  4. 4

    Students will become familiar with the Imagist movement in American poetry and will identify aspects of Imagism in H.D.'s poems.
