Why does Anne want to become a Dutch citizen?
Anne is deeply attached to the Dutch, particularly since Holland is her adopted home and she feels rejected by her actual birth home, Germany. She acknowledges that anti-Semitism is rising in Holland even while the war is still going on, and that she can never be just another member of society but will always be marked as different for being Jewish.
