Blackout
We see LV singing to the crowd her first night at the club, but she can only do her impressions in the dark to begin with. This imagery reveals how frightened she is to speak in front of anyone, and that her voice only exists in the darkness.
Cherry Picker
Billy uses a cherry picker to get himself up to LV's window nearly every night. The imagery evokes the great love between the two as in Romeo and Juliet, as Romeo would go to Juliet's balcony.
Ashes
We see a burned down flat that Mari and LV return to for the final face off between mother and daughter. The imagery reveals the reality of the relationship between the two, that it is burnt to the ground and there is little hope of reconciliation as ashes cannot be rebuilt with.
Light Show
The final imagery of the play is of Billy's light show shining brightly and creating vibrant colors and stars, as LV sings and begins to be elevated in the cherry picker. The imagery shows how his sincere love for who she is has allowed her to sing out in her true voice, and be taken higher and higher to a place she will not come down from.
