The Rise and Fall of Little Voice Quotes

Quotes

"Don't start that bloody music again. I've no head for that."

Mari

Mari says this to her daughter, LV who is going upstairs to her room where she always plays her records left to her by her dad. LV's relationship to the records reveals that she gets more from the gift from her deceased father than her mother.

"Sing for yourself."

Billy

Billy says this to LV at the end of the play. He has seen LV for who she is, not some money-making girl to be used. He has created a light show just for her to sing within.

"I couldn't speak up to you, 'cause he must have wanted you so. I couldn't speak up to you, 'cause I could never get a word in! These became my tongues!"

LV

LV says this to her mother in the final scene of the play. She reveals that she has lost her ability to speak because she's never been able to get a word in with Mari, to the point that her "tongues" became the records she listened to as she never developed her voice.
