The Rise and Fall of Little Voice Irony

The Rise and Fall of Little Voice Irony

Communication

Mari has a phone installed in her flat so that Ray will be able to reach her whenever he wants. Ironically, she creates an open line of communication for him, but provides nothing for her daughter.

Being a Hit

LV has become a sensation at the club she is performing at. Ironically, she never sings her own songs; she instead does impressions of other musicians. Thus, she is furthering her inability to speak as she is only being praised for something that isn't really hers.

Ray

Mari does anything that Ray asks her to in regards to LV and her new career he's created for her. She does it so that Ray will stay with her and marry her. Ironically, Ray finds Mari disgusting and a drunk, and carries on affairs with other women behind her back.

Burnt

Ray leaves Mari and LV's apartment and slams the door, which causes the iron to fall and burn their place down. Ironically, Mari blames LV for creating all of this instead of being capable of looking in the mirror and seeing that it was her own fault that everything has fallen apart.

Showing Up

Billy has shown up every night to see LV, but she has not once come to the window to see him. Ironically, he continues to show up until she does. Because of his fight for her she finally is able to sing from her own voice, something she has not done for years.
