Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. Lesson Plan

Relationship to Other Books

Consider other books by Judy Blume, including Starring Sally J. Freedman as Herself and Just as Long as We're Together, and perhaps Then Again, Maybe I Won't. The latter was written as the "male equivalent" of Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, and may still be an interesting study in male adolescence, though some of its ethical takes would be seen as very much suspect today.

For takes on adolescence that align with Blume's in her time, consider the books of Norma Klein and Rosa Guy. For more contemporary views, consider books by John Green, Laurie Halse Anderson, or Brandy Colbert.
